Therapy methods
Somatic Experiencing
SE is a body-awareness approach to healing trauma & stress that can get “stuck” in the body, which is key to transforming PTSD & other emotional & developmental wounds. We work to get more familiar with the nervous system so you are able to understand, regulate, & slowly release your trauma. This can help integrate painful experiences & allow space for more capacity, energy & safety in our lives.
Co-regulating Touch
Co-regulating through touch is part of what occurs in healthy human development. Methods that use touch as a way to support co-regulation are part of the body/mind traditions that focus on presence and connection to address the ways in which both physical and emotional pain are held in our physiology. Learn more about co-regulating touch here.
EFT
Emotionally focused therapy is a humanistic, evidence-based approach to psychotherapy, drawing primarily from attachment theory to facilitate the creation of secure, vibrant connection with self and others. Rooted in the science of emotions and attachment, EFT helps clients identify and transform negative interaction patterns that create distress. It’s effective in treating individuals (EFIT), couples (EFCT), and families (EFFT), addressing a wide range of issues from relationship distress to individual anxiety and trauma.
ACT
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Although ACT doesn’t specifically derive from Buddhism, its foundational concepts are shared with Buddhist philosophy and practices.
Parts work
Sometimes different unhealed and unheard parts of us, often from childhood, cause us to act in ways that do not align with our values. We might run from close relationships we desire, lash out at those we love, or criticize & judge every move we make. Parts work, or Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) is a way of healing unresolved trauma by getting to know and care for different parts of ourselves. Giving our parts recognition, compassion & respect can transform our relationship with ourself, others, & the world around us.
