The Watering Hole Retreat: Replenish & Reconnect
Register here!
Join us for a 3-day, 2-night retreat designed to rekindle your spirit and reconnect with yourself and your community. This is a lakeside sleepover inspired by the metaphor of the watering hole—a place where diverse beings gather to rest, play, and replenish.
Our goal is to intertwine group breathwork and somatic embodiment practices with camp playtime. Think swimming, kayaking, arts and crafts, song circles, yoga and dance parties.
This is an opportunity to return to the simplicity of breath, movement, food, friendship, nature, and space to be yourself.
We know health and connection isn’t one-size-fits-all, and this retreat is about celebrating where you’re at and choosing what you need. Health is about choices and options, and here, you’ll have the freedom to explore what nourishes you best.
There will be a good mix of facilitated community practices with the entire group and time to choose what activities call to you (including opting out to chill if that’s what feels right). Both Meeka and Katie will also offer individual Somatic Experiencing and breathwork sessions to those interested in signing up.
Come to the watering hole. Replenish yourself. And know you can always return.
What to Expect:
Facilitated Activities: Each day enjoy a mix of somatic exercises, playful outdoor activities, and contemplative creative projects. These are curated for you, so there’s no need to plan—just show up and be. Ample free-time is included so you don’t feel too programmed.
Community Connection: Engage with others in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Share stories, insights, or simply your presence around the "watering hole."
Personal Exploration: Tune into your unique needs and rhythms. This is a space to honor where you are in your cycle of energy, emotion, and growth.
This summer solstice, let’s blow on our collective embers, rekindle our aliveness, and embrace the regenerative power of community and self connection.
Who is this for?
This retreat is for anyone ready to rest, play, and reconnect. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just curious about what balance looks like for you, you’ll leave feeling renewed and inspired. Must be 21+ to participate.

Book Club Therapy
This is a three month-long therapy group that will take place in-person and virtually. We will read and process Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxanne Gay and The Girls at 17 Swanna Street by Yara Zgheib.
What is bibliotherapy? This group is considered bibliotherapy! Bibliotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses literature to deepen one's understanding of themself and/or their experiences. Books can be used as doors into others' worlds while giving insight into our own.
This is a process group, meaning there's space to share personal experiences related to the content. There will be boundaries and facilitated group agreements about how deep we go into personal stories to avoid overwhelming yourself and/or other members.
This group is for you if:
You're a reader and you crave a community space to discuss challenging topics that deepen your sense of self.
You're new to therapy/group therapy and want to try it out in a low-stakes way. There's nothing like discussing characters and stories to take the spotlight off of yourself!
You are interested in doing healing and introspective work through reading but would like some support.
You're in need of a facilitated third space (a communal space, as distinct from the home, first space, or work, second space) to get to know other adults on a deeper level.
You or someone close to you experiences struggles with eating and/or body image.
We will meet from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM CST at Blip Roasters (1301 Woodswether Rd, Kansas City, MO 64105) in a private space.
Dates for the groups are as follows: 02/22, 03/07, 03/21, 04/04, 04/18, and 05/02.

Climate Grief Gathering
Join me for Sunrise Movement KC’s 4th Climate Grief Gathering on Sunday, February 18 at 2:30 PM.
Register here!
Members of our community will gather to express their anxiety and grief while living in a period of climate crisis. We will also host a potluck so we can eat while we translate our emotional despair into powerful acts of hope! The theme for this gathering is "gratitude."
The gathering takes place Inner Space KC from 2:30 to 5 p.m. We thank our allied collective Inner Space KC for letting us this space.
This gathering will include a potluck and facilitated discussion organized with the curriculum of Joanna Macy and Molly Young Brown’s “Coming Back to Life: The Updated Guide to the Work that Reconnects.” Three facilitated group exercises will walk us through the process our grief for the world and our connection as beings on this Earth.
We believe these climate grief gatherings not only build deep relationships with members amongst our local community but can also train folks to manage and live with the feelings they are experiencing related to climate grief. Both of these outcomes increase our ability to provide mutual aid amongst each other and use that mutual aid to achieve abolition in multiple areas of our lives.
The only way out of this crisis is by moving with hope and taking collective action to build power. In order to do that, we have to learn as a community to address our feelings of anxiety and despair. Can you be there?
Register here!
Parking for the event can be found at the building. We are asking folks to bring a dish, snack, or drink for a community potluck. There will be yoga mats, bolsters and pillows provided, as well as a few chairs.
Masking is optional and masks will be provided for those concerned about COVID-19. If you need more safety accommodations, please let us know after you RSVP!
This is a free event.

Erotic Self Care
In this two-hour erotic self care small group, we will explore our relationship to pleasure and our capacity to enjoy it. Psychotherapist and relationship expert Esther Perel describes eroticism as "cultivating pleasure for its own sake [and] bringing adventure back into play and creativity into our lives." Eroticism is the qualities of vitality, curiosity, and spontaneity that make us feel alive.
How can we embody eroticism, especially when it comes to our sexuality? The most important sexual relationship is the one you have with yourself. What does it mean for YOU to feel sexually empowered? What feels both sexy and safe for you? This workshop is for women and nonbinary folks identifying in the realms of she/they. Together we will:
Explore ideas of sexuality & connect to personal definition
Enhance creativity and explore new ways to express Self (especially sexually)
Challeng negative self talk and biases that society contributes to
Learn how to move more sensually by building an intimate connection to your body through movement
The structure of the group includes a guided exploration of your personal erotic self care plan, as well as some fun movement-based sexual empowerment exercises facilitated by Meagan Howard, LCSW.
