Members of our community will gather to express their anxiety and grief while living in a period of climate crisis. We will also host a potluck so we can eat while we translate our emotional despair into powerful acts of hope! The theme for this gathering is "gratitude."
The gathering takes place Inner Space KC from 2:30 to 5 p.m. We thank our allied collective Inner Space KC for letting us this space.
This gathering will include a potluck and facilitated discussion organized with the curriculum of Joanna Macy and Molly Young Brown’s “Coming Back to Life: The Updated Guide to the Work that Reconnects.” Three facilitated group exercises will walk us through the process our grief for the world and our connection as beings on this Earth.
We believe these climate grief gatherings not only build deep relationships with members amongst our local community but can also train folks to manage and live with the feelings they are experiencing related to climate grief. Both of these outcomes increase our ability to provide mutual aid amongst each other and use that mutual aid to achieve abolition in multiple areas of our lives.
The only way out of this crisis is by moving with hope and taking collective action to build power. In order to do that, we have to learn as a community to address our feelings of anxiety and despair. Can you be there?
