Book club buds and therapists Brianne Rose, MS, LMHC, LPC & Katie Jones, LSCSW, LCSW, SEP, RYT have joined forces to create a therapy book club!
Each 2-month cycle has a central overarching theme that we will discuss through the lens of one fiction and one non-fiction book. We will meet biweekly, taking one month to read each book.
You have the options to be a part of our in-person group in Kansas City or our virtual group!
This is a process group, meaning there's space to share personal experiences related to the content. There will also be boundaries and facilitated group agreements about how deep we go into personal stories to avoid overwhelm.
Our first theme centers both Bri and my specialization: complex trauma and how it impacts our development and identities.
We’ll read What My Bones Know by Stephanie Foo and then Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson.
This club is for you if:
You're a reader and you crave a community space to discuss challenging topics that deepen your sense of self.
You've never tried group therapy before and you're down to do something new.
You're new to therapy and want to try it out in a pretty low-stakes way! There's nothing like discussing characters and stories to take the spotlight off of yourself.
You are interested in doing healing and introspective work through reading but would like some support.
You're in need of a facilitated third space (a communal space, as distinct from the home, first space, or work, second space, where getting to know other adults on a deeper level.
You're interested in how somatic practices can deepen your integration of a book club discussion.
